Richard T. Volpe

Mr. Volpe began his career in the automotive industry in 1946 when he went to work for his father Sam at Van Buren Truck Body Builders on Van Buren Avenue in Floral Park.  Sam remained at the Floral Park location until late 1946 when he moved the body shop to our current location on Jericho Tpke. in Garden City Park. In 1960, Mr. Volpe and a friend of his went into business together and formed Reuper GMC Sales Corp.  They opened the Dealership on Charles Street in Mineola and operated out of that location until 1968.  Mr. Volpe so enjoyed the auto dealer business he got another friend involved and the three of them opened Key GMC in Farmingdale in 1964 which operated in the same building that is now our Farmingdale location until Key GMC closed in 1970.  Mr. Volpe bought out his partner in Reuper GMC in 1968 and moved the dealership to our current location at 2257 Jericho Tpke., Garden City Park, and changed to name to Van Buren GMC Sales Corp.  As he added franchises, our name has evolved to the current Van Buren Buick GMC.

Mr. Volpe's business philosophy has always been fairness.  Fairness to our customers and to our employees.  This philosophy has served him well over the years as we continue to grow.  Our customers return and the majority of our employees stay.

Mr. and Mrs. Volpe were blessed with two sons, Rick and Tom who share their Father and Grandfather's love of this business and continue their Dad's commitment to fairness.  Tom began working for his Dad in 1972 and currently runs our Farmingdale location, Rick joined the business in 1975 and runs the Garden City Park location.

Welcome to Van Buren!  My name is Rick Volpe, and I am the third generation of the Volpe family to make a career in the automobile and trucking industry.  I have been in the business since 1975, starting out in service, parts, sales, then moving up to dealer principle, following in my father's footsteps and ideals.  My main goal, and the most important goal of this dealership, is customer satisfaction.  Without satisfied customers, Van Buren would not have been able to thrive in the business since 1935.  If you need my assistance, please call me at 516-741-5060, extension 152.
